Playing the Fool...
Have you ever heard of the Heyoka? They were brought into being by the Thunder Gods of the West and sent to enlighten the Lakota Sioux. They acted contrary to whatever they encountered in order to shake up their audience. If it was hot, they put on extra blankets and pretended to be freezing. If it was cold, they stripped naked and pretended to suffer the heat. If everyone was walking forward towards a destination, they started at the destination and walked backward until they met people going the wrong way as far as they were concerned. In times of serious hardship, they were a welcome distraction and considered Sacred Clowns. The tales that speak of their adventures are numerous and diverse. They disregarded all the rules finding both honor and shame. Their ability to heal was pure empathy and they were masters at their game.
